"We Demand Just The Same Amount Of Rights As You Do".
On December 1st 1955, Rosa Parks had left her job as a seamstress in Alabama & got on a bus to go home. In 1955 buses in Montgomery saved seats in the front for whites and seats in the rear for African Americans. Seats in the middle were open to African Americans but only if there were a small amount of whites on the bus at the time. Parks took a seat right behind the white section pretty soon the seats got filled. When the bus driver noticed a white man standing, he then told Rosa and 3 other African Americans to stand && let the white man sit down. Rosa refused and the driver called the police, and she later was taken into custody just for standing up for herself.
Shortly after the arrest reached E.D. Nixon a former president of the chapter of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of colored people). Nixon went all out and wanted to challenge bus segregation in court, he confronted parks about her decision for standing up for her rights and that he would support her and go along with it.
